SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON LOW BACK, HIP AND KNEE REHABILITATION AND PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT

Join us for this one-day course + pre-course video, where we delve into refining your understanding and expertise in the crucial respiratory and postural functions of the diaphragm. Recognizing their critical role in optimal movement and performance, we explore training these functions in fundamental positions and progressively advance to more challenging and dynamic movements. Our primary goal is to deepen your understanding of the integrated nature of global movement patterns, focusing on the synergy between trunk stabilization and lower extremity functional movements. Throughout this practical session, we emphasize ongoing facilitation and cueing of respiration and intra-abdominal pressure, particularly as we progress to dynamic multiplanar movements. The key to transformative outcomes lies in a thorough grasp of the roles played by respiration and intra-abdominal pressure in movement, coupled with the ability to identify and address subtle impairments. This session is tailored to meet practitioners at their current level, with ample time for questions and hands-on feedback, ensuring enhanced outcomes when applying these principles in your practice.

To prepare you to get the most from this hands-on workshop, you will have access to a previous virtual workshop on the basic mechanics of respiration and intra-abdominal pressure, or core stabilization.

Course Highlights/Objectives:

Optimize Diaphragmatic Functions:

Delve into the critical roles of respiratory and postural functions of the diaphragm for enhancing movement and performance.

Understand the Impact:

Explore how impaired or insufficient intra-abdominal pressure contributes to issues in the low back, knees, and hips, along with their role in causing performance plateaus.

Compensatory Patterns and Strategies:

Identify common compensatory patterns associated with insufficient intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) and lower extremity (LE) muscle recruitment. Gain the skills to confidently address and enhance these patterns.

Dynamic Facilitation and Cueing:

Emphasize ongoing facilitation and cueing of respiration and intra-abdominal pressure, particularly in dynamic multiplanar movements.

Advancing Further:

Explore the effectiveness of training pelvis over femur in functional movements, recognize the impact foot support has on proximal muscle recruitment and trunk stabilization, discover the powerful changes when facilitating eccentric gluteal function, and move beyond conventional cues like "knees over toes" by conducting a comprehensive alignment assessment.
